Your visit, plainly explained.
UNEXPLODED collects very little personal information. This notice explains what the site handles, why, and the choices available to you.
Who is responsible
Robin Nixon operates unexploded.live and is responsible for the personal information handled through this site. Privacy questions and requests can be sent to robin@robinnixon.com.
Information the site handles
Ordinary visits
The web host may process standard request information such as your IP address, browser or device details, requested page, date and time, and referring page in access and security logs. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose faults and protect it from abuse.
Reader comments
If you publish a comment, the site stores the page or record discussed, the display name you choose (or “Anonymous”), your comment, a random identifier and the publication time. Your display name, comment and time are public across the site. Do not include private information in a comment.
Amazon store preference
The buying page reads your browser language and region to suggest an Amazon store. It does not request GPS or precise location. If you manually choose a store, that preference is saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. It is not sent to unexploded.live and can be removed by clearing this site’s stored data in your browser.
If you email the author, your email service sends the information you choose to include. It is used to answer you, handle a request or preserve a relevant correspondence record.
Cookies, analytics and advertising
The public site does not currently use Google Analytics, Google advertising tags, behavioural advertising cookies or public user accounts. It does not set a cookie for ordinary visitors. The private comment-administration area uses a security session cookie and is not a public service. If analytics or advertising is introduced later, this notice and any consent controls required at that time will be updated before those tools are enabled.
Why information is used
Information is handled where necessary to provide a feature you request, such as publishing your comment or answering your email; for legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the site and maintaining the integrity of its public discussion; and where necessary to meet a legal obligation. A public comment remains published until it is removed, corrected or no longer reasonably needed for the discussion and publication record. Security and access logs are retained according to the host’s operational settings.
Sharing and links to other services
Information is handled by service providers only where needed to host and operate the site or email. It may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights. The site does not sell visitor or commenter information.
Amazon and other external sites receive information under their own privacy terms only after you follow an external link. The site’s Amazon links contain the book’s format-specific product identifiers but no unexploded.live visitor identifier. The live webcam player may connect to the site’s outbound video relay to deliver the stream; audio is disabled.
Your choices and rights
You may ask whether personal information about you is held and request access, correction, deletion, restriction or objection where the law provides those rights. You may also ask for a public comment to be removed. Contact robin@robinnixon.com with enough detail to identify the relevant information. If you are unhappy with the response, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
